I'd prefer what other projects produce - a source release that contains source only, no binary applications. I cannot vote on a binary release. I'll refer to the Incubator release draft[1] which reasons: "Each Apache release must contain a source package. This package may not contain compiled components (such as "jar" files) because compiled components are not open source, even if they were built from open source." This also begs the question of how you managed to get approval in the podling to do this release if you have not voted on a source package. One would think this is a do-over with a source package to be voted on in the podling and then passed to the IPMC for approval. With regards, Daniel.
