The first step to abandoning the Apache license is for others to
recognize like you have that it is not a "free/libre" license. I don't
know why people bother to put the Apache text at the top of every
file, when someone else can just as quickly remove / relicense it.
Anyway, that is for another day other than the fact that I think IBM
should be endorsing the LGPL / GPL as their preferred license.

You assumptions are wrong. I am a former MS employee but have no
disdain for them, and I've written words demonstrating that. I have
nothing against the Mac but the incompatible keystrokes. Not sure if
it rises to the level of disdain. Don't focus on me, focus on the GPL
and LibreOffice.

LibreOffice has not decided to abandon Windows and the Mac. Lots of
geek communities build free software that works on multiple hardware /
OSes, and as the work has already been done, they just have to
maintain it. They would be foolish to get rid of it, and they are not
fools.
