It is useful information and thanks for it. I was simply trying to point out that there are other ways of managing an open source project and probably no one right way of doing things.

I said nothing about what constitutes a "true" open source project,
simply about what constitutes a successful ASF project in my
experience.  Since you're trying to create a new ASF project, that
seems like rather useful information for you to have.
