Hi All,

We are announcing the alpha release of gem5-gpu, which we presented at the
gem5-users workshop last December. gem5-gpu has been developed
independently from cpu-gpu-sim, previously mentioned on the mailing list.

gem5-gpu combines the CPU and memory system models from gem5 and the GPU
model from GPGPU-Sim. Some features include:
 * Support for running unmodified x86 CUDA binaries
 * Syscall emulation and full system modes
 * GPU coherence protocols
 * APU and discrete GPU-CPU memory system configurations

gem5-gpu is currently alpha software, therefore it is slightly rough around
the edges. We are working towards a beta release with Tor Aamodt's
GPGPU-Sim group, which will more tightly integrate gem5 with GPGPU-Sim by
defining a set interface. This should allow gem5-gpu to more easily track
the latest versions of both GPGPU-Sim and gem5. We hope to release the beta
version of gem5-gpu later this year.

Details about gem5-gpu and instructions for getting the code can be found
at http://gem5-gpu.cs.wisc.edu. Another useful resource is the presentation
we gave at the gem5-users workshop, which can be found on the gem5 wiki at
http://gem5.org/User_workshop_2012.

Questions and discussions can be directed to our mailing list:

Thanks,
