Can we just revert back to texinfo? Sphinx requires manual page splitting which is a downgrade from texinfo. Stable URLs and links was something which we pushed for fixes for texinfo too. And many other issues with sphinx which makes it better if we revert back to texinfo until those are fixed including compile time is a problem now.
