Unfortunately, I think the only way (sort of adding the suggested workaround in the commit-extra-checker script), is to update the branch directly in the bare repository on sourceware.org. This would cause the hooks to be by-passed, I believe, so no emails. If those are desired, and we remember to keep track of the branch's HEAD before and after, we can call the hook manually to get them sent. I have login access on the hosting machine, but through an unprivileged user, so I don't think I can do this for you, unfortunately. -- Joel
