OK, I was not aware of that since I use only svn. Then, I understand the point of the conversion. If only there was a svn-git... (I was assuming one only needs git-svn to commit to the main repo and that happens relatively rarely, and that local writes and remote reads would be done in the git mirror without using git-svn.
