That doesn't mean a plugin developer can't use their experience and offer opinions on what would be a good/better plugin interface.

If the plugin developers could agree on what a better interface would be, it would go a long way toward encouraging GCC to provide that interface.

Without such feedback, the status quo is unlikely to change since GCC developers don't know what a better interface would be...
