I have to take a closer look at how ccache proceeds to speed up compilation and precisely at how gcc internally uses I/O functions, to be more articulate on the subject.

Maybe I could slowly and publicly form a detailed answer to your question, as I improve my understanding of what's at stake (without being too much of a nuisance for this mailing list) as in the link you provide? Something like an "assignment agenda" as in the link?
