In that case it was because there was no C++ compiler installed when
building gcc.


Thanks for the clue.

A week earlier I had built & installed 4.5-20101118 c,c++ in /usr
Then I deleted the old c compiler in /usr/local, but I forgot the
old cpp, c++, g++.

After removing the old cpp, etc, the 4.5-20101125 builds fine.
