Thanks, the tree iterator did the trick. I was wondering if there is a tree-walker which walks through the whole tree, going through all the possible nested statements and expressions instead of just iterating through a list of statements. I know tree-pretty-print.c implements something to print a tree but I am wondering if there's something like an iterator for doing this or if I have to implement it myself.
