I expect Sandra will be merging half-precision support for ARM to trunk fairly soon; see her announcement <http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2009-01/msg01062.html>. This includes generic support for the IEEE half-precision format (plus an ARM-specific variant) and lots of testcases that are likely to be useful for any other targets wanting half-precision as well, as well as ARM-specific pieces including the Cortex-A9 half-precision instructions. -- Joseph S.
