I don't mind the size of the change as long as it is the right thing
to do for now and future.

How will it work with

   /* Turn on SSSE3 builtins for -msse4.1.  */
  if (TARGET_SSE4_1)
    target_flags |= MASK_SSSE3;
 
One will need to know which variable the mask is used for.
