But that will not replace the system flex, so it will require tweaking environment variables or passing configure options. OpenBSD also still ships with flex 2.5.4. That version has been the defacto standard for years and is by far the most widespread version. In my experience newer versions of flex are much less stable, and I think requiring a newer version should not be done lightly. Mark
