I am working on a project that easily and automatically uses Mirrors and segmented downloading.
Basically, it is an XML file for storing the many links for a file (FTP, HTTP, P2P - BitTorrent especially). As you can imagine, this is very useful for accelerated downloading with download managers & balancing load between servers. It is being added to FlashGot, a Firefox extension, (which can pass URLs on to many other downlod managers) & GetRight (another download manager) now, but I would like for more people to hear about it.
