You still have not demonstrated that this is a real problem. If someone is having a real problem, then we can offer them a simple sed script to fix it. Are you really saying that someone is using ASCII line art in comments that tweaks this behavior? Wow. Write them a script to put a vertical bar character at the ends of the comment lines or something.
