Unless you're interested in Ada, I'd recommend trying with the GNU linker instead. I was getting good results with binutils 2.16 on 4.0 at one stage, although I no longer have access to an IRIX system. (There's no intrinsic reason why you can't use the GNU linker for Ada too. It's just that Rainer has reported problems in the past, and no-one has cared enough to iron out the creases.) Richard
