OK, I misinterpreted "tools", thanks for the clarification. Yes, that is a very plausible explanation. The problem occurs on SPARC with GCC 32-bit because of the switch to DWARF-2 as the default debugging format, while the Sun compiler still uses STABS. Does anyone know what is that of the Sun compiler on x86? I'll try to get my hands on the patched assembler. If we are lucky, the problem was generic and has been fixed on SPARC too. -- Eric Botcazou
