PR8972 has been fixed in our tree and we should be pushing
the patch upstream soon. We had got the FSF tree building
with patches to fix PR17317 / PR11476 / PR17240 .We have
also been making fixes with binutils which can be found in
the corresponding archives.

We at Codito are working on the GNU Tools for the ARC platform and support processors more recent than the ARCtangent A4 core. We are currently upgrading the 2.95 based tools we have to a 3.4.x based tools (drawn off the 3.4 branch) (The changes involved are only backend specific). (http://www.codito.com/arc).

We would like to merge our changes with mainline, 4.0 branch
and the 3.4 branch and continue work in the FSF domain. What
would be the best way to go about this ?

I was able to build mainstream CVS today just fine. The only
issue with building newlib was a ctype_b alias problem which
got resolved by upgrading to cvs head of newlib.

cheers
Ramana
