The Fedora Core 4 people are working on this (building a whole distro with
gcc 4); I've seen a bit of blogging about this, but it would be nice if
someone would give the gcc list a status report (hint, hint).

While I usually hesitate to disagree with Jim, I will in this case. I
*hope* that clueful people will worry about this, so that we can fix as
many bugs as possible (or at least come up with some workarounds or
warnings) before we ship 4.0.  (When I say "clueful people" I'm talking about
those who have experience in building distros from source, who won't need
hand-holding in the absence of compiler bugs).
