Good decision! I now understand that it's easy to use in particular situations. My wish is to add a bug free version of ld to it. (xz-bootstrap looks a bit useless since in my experience a modern GNU Tar is needed as well. And also GIT, CMake is already supported.) I am not that much interested in getting pre-built software. My PowerBook is not used productively since 1½ decades, therefore it's OK when it cannot be used. What I am doing with it is helping to make working software. Which is compiling and complaining. Maybe it's worth to record in MacPorts' bootstrap ports very exact version numbers.
