Hi,
Yeah, I have a touch pad in my laptop as well, and my solution was to go 
to Big Lots, picked up a $7.00 HP optical USB mouse, hooked it up and 
away I go.
So as far as mice goes they are very inexpensive and for those wanting 
to use that feature on laptops they can have a good mouse well under $20.
