I stuck King of dragon pass on on Wednesday night to see what the new updates were like, and then I couldn't stop playing and quite literally have been doing so for the last two days (dam that game is hard to put down!).
The only slightly disappointing thing is I actually lost the game due to heroquests. With the way the new lore page is laid out every myth has a "details" link next to it. When however I got the details of a couple of myths, like the earth mother feeds the tribe, or the cow goddess's blessing (I won't attempt to spell there names), the "details" changed to secrets so I assumed that was how the quests were labeled. Unfortunately it turns out I was wrong. Lots of the other quests like the Healing goddess heals the scars don't have a "secrets" tag, they still read details even when I had the details of the myth. So I kept trying the Cow goddess's quest, failed three times and hus failed the short game! grrrrr! I also confess I did cheat a little, by consulting the Kodp wiki on each quest to actually make sure what I was choosing were the best options, sinse one really irritating thing about attempting heroquests for the first time is that it's actually possible to choose the right option (ie the one from the myth), and still have the action fail, meaning often it seems you've done something wrong when actually you took the right action. I suppose I could restore to the point my tribe was formed, but that seems a bit too much like cheating, plus I'd rather try the thing myself again, particularly sinse I've now decided playing a thrawl taking clan is significantly more problematic than not, and also that it really! seems battle blessings are essential to winning any kind of battle at all early in the game.
