Well, you can't edit the original message so what you have to do is do the reply as usual with control+r or whatever the reply command is for the email program you are using at the time. Once the reply message pops up you then delete the extra text that isn't needed. For example, in your message I arrowed down to where I wanted to start my responce did a shift+control+end to select to the bottom of the message, hit delete, and then started typing this text you are reading now.
