Well, sorry for the missleading expression - it's probably true that when I 
said 3D sound positioning, you would think you needed a surround sound 
system. However, as Richard from Audiogames stated, you don't really need a 
surround sound system, just good stereo headphones or even speakers, but 
it's almost impossible to me to play it just with speakers. :-)
Imagine yourself walking through an unknown environment without a white 
cane. You'd probably encounter the same difficulties you've been 
describing - I've tried that myself personally so I can confirm that it's 
really almost impossible and might even be dangerous, especially if there is 
lots of disturbance. I think the way in which the city soundscape and the 
limited physics are simulated is really excellent and the conceptual idea is 
an interesting element as well...

As for Showdown: I am not a true programmer myself yet (programming only in 
Sinclair Basic, Autoit and Borland Turbo Pascal 3.0 (the language that was 
most commonly used for Eureka A4 if you wanted to create a bit more 
complicated programs than its Basic interpreter offered)) but I still think 
it wouldn't have to be all that difficult really. Take Top Speed 2 as an 
example - and this game is even more demanding. In Showdown, you would just 
have to track the serve and then send the few bytes of data to the 
opponent's computer, where it would be processed off-line and then the 
corresponding data output would be sent back, and so on... Would not even 
have to require a fast connection, perhaps dialup should be enough. Could 
have as simple ip tracking system as Top Speed and his original Tictactoe 
have.
It's possible that I might have been missleading again though, so please 
correct me someone more involved if my assumptions are way too imaginative. 
:-)
And for the sounds: I meant that they are as high-quality as nothing else 
I've ever heard, specially the sports games... Simple, isn't it? :-)
They sound so well that I can clearly see myself standing behind the goal 
hole at my side of the table, trying to defend it from a hard attacking 
rival. :-)
