Seems somewhat pointless to me, but if that's what you want to do, then yes, PipeRead would suffice there. Be aware that if you're still awake past midnight and fvwm is still running, don't rely on your calendar thing to accurately reflect the date or time. ;) You do appreciate that projects like fvwm-themes already predefine fvwmscript instances of a calendar, etc.? Have you considered just using one of those?
