FVWM: Populating an FvwmButtons button with PipeRead output

Hi everyone

Thanks for the help I received last time. I wonder if I might ask about 
using PipeRead and echo(1) to display information in an FvwmButtons button.

Within my dock (FvwmButtons) I would like to have the day (number) and 
the three letter abbreviation of the current date shown in-place of an 
icon inside one of my buttons, sort-of like a simple calendar display. I 
believe I can achieve this with PipeRead and echo but as I'm still 
learning about the scripting part of fvwm I can't quite get it to do 
what I want.

Does anyone use something like this and perhaps be able to show me an 
example? I've searched online which has been informative but I've found 
nothing about this specific command so far.
