And you've confirmed that's the version of FVWM you're actually starting?
i.e., it's found in your $PATH?
yes(checked with fvwm -V), and anyway, I first purged the Debian package

I would do the following:

1. Comment out the "Style xclock NoTitle" line from your config and restart
FVWM, ensuring you close any other instance of xclock first.

2. Open FvwmConsole [1]

3. Run xclock

4. In to FvwmConsole, type this:

        Style xclock !Title

... and tell me what happens.

[1] I didn't see this in your config, so you'll have to add it to your
StartFunction or bind it to a menu or a key binding, since this must be
spawned by FVWM.

it's one of the 4 fvwm buttons

That worked, and with "read debug" also, but the behaviour is much more
complicated (a good way to drive somebody crazy!)

    1/ with FvwmConsole, all parameters work(Title, Sticky,..)...but
       StaysOnTOP
2/ with "Fvwm restart", only Title/Notitle works, i.e. is taken
       into account without restarting xclock.
To check that it's not an xclock related problem, I tried also with
    xdvi: same behaviuor.
And I tried also on my new laptop, on which I have a freshly installed
    Squeeze: same thing.
,
Anyway, as it works by restarting the application, it's a minor bug,
and it doesn't deserve spending too much time on it.

    Thanks for your help.
