It really depends on what do you want to configure "on fly". As Thomas said, if you are referring to compositing stuff like transparency or shadows, it can be done with xcompmgr + transset-df for *any* application. If you are talking about some other thing, please, describe it, though it's really off-topic for this list. urxvt for example can change some settings on the fly, like fonts. However that's not the norm, but the exception, and don't expect a lot of functionality from aterm, which is a very basic application. -- Jesús Guerrero
