External Email - Use Caution

Dear R.,

Thank you for your quick reply. No need to hassle around which Python version
will be used. I just installed and tested FreeSurfer 7.4.1, which worked
flawlessly, so we will just process the cohort (n=43) with the new stable build.

Best regards,

Joost

Hello Joost,

It looks like you are using an old 2020 development build prior to fspython
being updated to version 3..8.X with a newer version of tensorflow installed.

The latest 7.4.1 release from June 2023 should have a tensorflow version 2.12
installed. You can download that and other releases from,
https://secure-web.cisco.com/1F40LJ_hr__CBRHOUEzxwHdYk0EmAEZr-dAxlEk5z9VTEVPE0hEXrNY66EF7ooo37uQYXmMq6BCgqI7H4nW5LHYMQAEX6PParKeU_9jkn3rqmq_7nN6u_Fv2St9wRxpOdhMkOGus5L6x3Sot_1ZQGwAPqwk6SG-xl6jmB4TO3gX2YVIOQwcUVoDrkNH5wGTxWnFK6n_I0Mt4H2zSSklavcZmEH-5NQrNq4CT9CUHKVun0v1mGEG5NJoEXVQhH_nI3U76lAo4XWnSYZoOjbK--cFIefoADRudJ4l-lkag6ecnpJB7Zu9N7krpKyYoXqRvD/https%3A%2F%2Fsurfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu%2Ffswiki%2Frel7downloads

We recommend using a release build since those are more thoroughly tested and
expected to be more stable compared to the development builds (e.g., what you
listed). But if you need to use something that can only be found in the latest
development builds, those can be downloaded via the link below. The tensorflow
version has been updated to 2.13 in development builds.

The freesurfer builds/releases are tested with the accompanying fspython
distribution and setup to not encourage modifying that tested setup.. Since
"fspython" is independent of finding "python" in your PATH, then after you
source the freesurfer environment setup script, I believe it is possible to
change what python gets run. If you really need to do that, we can follow up
with you.

- R.
