I spent six hours trying to upgrade from 7.3.2 to 7.4.1. I don't know linux so I don't know these basic commands. A big problem for me was that I didn't know what version of Ubuntu I had but I didn't know that I didn't know that and none of the installation tools I tried told me, they just gave me unintelligible errors. I think that because you are all linux fluent you have blind spots about some of this basic stuff. Michael McLaughlin,
