External Email - Use Caution Hi Jacob,
Can you provide more details on how FreeSurfer was installed, how you are using the license key and the errors you are receiving? I just created a docker container with FreeSurfer v5.3.0-HCP ( https://secure-web.cisco.com/17NmBKDBeKQ2s5KCPv_27uxLlcUpGYh6trWIHdgOkgyAsvwZMpUo2meruB3V_SW3wn0xyhlGn2hAcXviWb2wfrykQwdwVbmJ6Ncj1vzTQPavSgi5JITEmBGvpErFL2qHnELq9mdqxberSObWpxJUSd4ZAGzDVIZtG5J4dMA8umPGnDIL_zYdR8CvIEAmNFFrq0mmURK0GSi2eVXkdD1uwrZjUUducX-69Zml5oJa0P13cYAaYV5I6gP3O-k2Ms0ofy_4agqLOpjjLO4DVq-uP1DwZqgYgksoIzByx0lFTVWR2fWZbFpH4gHkrLkSQ5TS0nAmvN3wOx_EX0OgmpkOFxg/https%3A%2F%2Fsurfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu%2Fpub%2Fdist%2Ffreesurfer%2F5.3.0-HCP%2Ffreesurfer-Linux-centos6_x86_64-stable-pub-v5.3.0-HCP.tar.gz) and tried my license file and things work fine. The container is at pwighton/freesurfer:5.3.0-HCP if you would like to try it yourself. You can run `docker run -it --rm pwighton/freesurfer:5.3.0-HCP` to get an interactive shell inside this container. Once inside the container, running this test command: ``` mri_convert /opt/freesurfer-5.3.0-HCP/subjects/sample-001.mgz /tmp/sample-001.nii.gz ``` Does indeed give me a license error ``` -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ERROR: FreeSurfer license file /opt/freesurfer-5.3.0-HCP/license.txt not found. If you are outside the NMR-Martinos Center, go to http://secure-web.cisco.com/1Kt9luNDb8VYLtSwGkNyUUc37eRLk-uNlu4t6fKlGJ18E_0c50tkea8ll-sB3LoEPzT7Y0dbN1Cx9EuyV3ebvLRlA_I-ZMSAbkTdh7YraC7VGcIyKSPFY-29L83U5oKrDn2PPwDUuRxD5AmkxlGSJOmqP17eokQp9Voldlt3woQCeTjddZjGxgnSbuHVWqRMDdVpQ7ThvIHxqdwNzmtwezAp6ZK5dRt7dsOtDC68yR1KRavDQx-wma2f5W1ZI-uxFewRTi41HIGk2dIhDbDtn3V8Q56YbOF_9Xf8kBTIChuapH1c64Xj-lCDQ7ESMgElXxtPBBpNrVDy3uXlyQPSq4g/http%3A%2F%2Fsurfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu to get a valid license file (it's free). If you are inside the NMR-Martinos Center, make sure to source the standard environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ``` However after copying my license file to `$FREESURFER_HOME/license.txt` the same command works fine. -Paul On Thu, Apr 21, 2022 at 3:42 AM Jacob Breiting Sönnichsen < j...@brainreader.net> wrote: > External Email - Use Caution > > Hi all, > > > > Are there really no one out there, who knows, how we can get a FreeSurfer > 5.1 and 5.3 running? > > How do we obtain/create a license for these versions? > > > > Kind regards / Cordialement / Med venlig hilsen > > Jacob > > > > *From:* Jacob Breiting Sönnichsen > *Sent:* Friday, 15 April 2022 10.03 > *To:* freesurfer@nmr.mgh.harvard.edu > *Subject:* License for 5.X versions of FreeSurfer > > > > How do I obtain a license to run old versions of FreeSurfer? > > I need to replicate some research done with an old 5.1 and 5.3 version of > FreeSurfer and using a current license does not seem to work? > > Is it possible to convert the new license to the old license somehow? > > > > Kind regards > > Jacob > _______________________________________________ > Freesurfer mailing list > Freesurfer@nmr.mgh.harvard.edu > https://secure-web.cisco.com/1DvhkaR2mjWSRWYlepOdPmMAHrIQ9xGobWvvixOcKNgF0BYEH5z6DHJyAP2tLOskkHmkngqDhljh2VgrrK37VRJqeNRIoceXSI1mZUOrQk7o7C46rIoHzQmJ3yG_QTZ1oNvthqgo9WRzrUPmew4F7Mb3M_-6UjLUuaELRL3BSJbAOyy5-xJWrnE1YuHDmyeaZENndy7kDX7oFyIGYdKtlP0WW24siy58wWXRrBMz7Ot7FtbTL_-C8uTvnEXVGRm_uvHkJcQDuQ7MVdGSx6CuOXcwMYjIfuD59WuwDhYBDamq1796lz8jEtvHf3yVOHnPNS1KnNtMywpL-Bkk0oaOUVw/https%3A%2F%2Fmail.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu%2Fmailman%2Flistinfo%2Ffreesurfer > The information in this e-mail is intended only for the person to whom it > is addressed.
