I'm not sure I understand what you mean by that. Your inflated brain just needs to be inflated a little more to get the folds out of it. I cannot tell whether this is sufficient or not. I found that I had to iterate many times (on the order of 30) to get stable results. This is quite burdensome, esp with 86 subjects. Have you tried using fsaverage_sym?
