Then, "Bad or missing,,,,,C:\FredDOS,,,,". No Shell.
Well, if that is the right path (eg your drive is in fact C: and not
D: or E:) then it sounds like that file is corrupt.
But you can very easily check if there is a problem with either
COMMAND.COM, by deleting/moving FDAUTO.BAT and FDCONFIG.SYS and
putting the COMMAND.COM at the top level.
And if there is a problem, get another copy somewhere.
...
You may also run 'md5sum' on the file. The md5sum for COMMAND.COM as
supplied by FreeDOS 1.4 (with the timestamp of 2025-02-21 14:06:48) is
627dd835ba55c9c0a0832775b1ac98a6.
But looking at the conspicuous carelessness in the typing in his posts
I think it is much more likely that the OP has a typo somewhere in his
configuration, so my advice would be the same - remove FDAUTO.BAT and
FDCONFIG.SYS and put the command interpreter in the root. (Of *every*
drive, to be sure that it will be found. Later, after the interpreter
loads successfully, maybe mess about removing any that aren't needed).
