The biggest problem is that youtube is constantly changing their site to
foil downloaders. The program referred to in this thread youtube-dl has
an older version as mentioned, that runs on python 2. something, and
that version no longer works, because it hasn't been updated in a very
long time. I actually wasn't aware they'd made a newer version, so
perhaps I'll need to track it down and see if it works well enough or not.
Youtube does have a subscription level that allows you to download
videos for offline viewing, but I don't know what it costs, since I have
too many subscriptions already, and don't use youtube often enough for
it to matter if I can download the videos or not.
But, for what it's worth, porting the older youtube-dl shouldn't be a
problem, just be aware that it probably won't work.

Someone on our Facebook group asked this question about a year ago,
asking is there was a DOS program to download YouTube videos so you
could watch them later.
The answer was No, sorry. But that was a year ago, maybe someone here
knows of something since then.

Simply curious if anyone has such a project?
A freedos or other dos port of say something like Yt-dlp?
Best,
Karen
