Yup. :-) I know a lot of users would like to have a bootable USB version of FreeDOS. So, I was thinking about creating a BATCH file that would convert the install media into a usable version of FreeDOS. Then it dawned on me, that the Floppy Edition installer was included on the media. Unlike the Primary FreeDOS installer, the Floppy Edition can install FreeDOS from a sub-directory to the same hard disk. So, I booted a Virtual Machine using the USB image as the Hard Drive (using the included VMDK). Quit the main installer and ran the Floppy Version. Worked great. When you boot DOS from USB, the USB Stick is Drive C: and the Floppy Edition installs to drive C: (from anywhere). So, you don’t even need to run the Floppy Installer in advanced mode to target a different drive. It was super simple and easy. LOL. No need for me to make some complex batch script to restructure the USB install media into a Portable OS Install. > > On Wed, Jan 15, 2025 at 10:39 AM Jerome Shidel via Freedos-user > <freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net > <mailto:freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net>> wrote: > As you are aware, we have provided a version of the FreeDOS install media as > a drive image for USB Sticks for some time.
