Hi Ged,
You can get Raspbarry Pi and similar computers for less
than 100 USD ...
You can get them for less than 5 USD:
https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/raspberry-pi-pico/
While those are from the same brand, they are not
from the same category: A Pi Pico lets you control
a few electronic signals, but you cannot just plug
a keyboard, mouse and screen to it to get a full
Linux computer out of a Pi Pico.
For that, you need at least a Pi Zero for 15 USD:
https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/raspberry-pi-zero-2-w/
This is a relatively weak computer, but it does have (only
wireless) network, USB and HDMI. And it can run desktop OS.
On the other end of the spectrum, you can get single board
computers for several 100 USD, with multiple multi-GHz CPU
cores, quite a few gigabytes of RAM etc. the size of a hand.
And then there are devices like the Nvidia Jetson family,
which are similar to what you would have in self-driving
cars, for high performance image processing and AI tasks.
Those are more like tiny stand-alone graphics cards, less
aimed at classic desktop computers tasks, and high-priced.
Regards, Eric
