I know there used to be a version of gcc and it's collective utilities that ran on dos, because I used to have it installed, many many years ago, but still.

With that said, it may be possible (certainly not a project for a beginner) to make the gnu cobol work under dos.

Assuming one can find the said version of the gcc collection, and make said source work with such an old version of gcc.
