This is twice the programming work required for networking. Not really
interesting from the programmer's point of view. But even assuming one
would be willing to waste time on such double implementation, he'd need
to figure out the Trumpet's API - it does not seem to be publicly
available... And the Trumpet TSR itself does not appear to be free:

Overall, not at all appealing to the DOS hobbyist.
