Hi there,
I installed FreeDOS on a Atom laptop. I want to run the Impulse Tracker
music production software. (
http://www.users.on.net/~jtlim/ImpulseTracker/download.html)
The first issue is related to memory, the second is no soundcard detected
(maybe also because the low on memory thing).
On c:\mem command I have:
Conventional.....638k
Upper.....100k
Reserved .....286k
Extended (xms) 2,086,720k
------
Total under 1M .... 738k
Total EMS 8,576k
Impulse Tracker displays:
FreeMem 159k
FreeEMS 0k
>From IT's manual:
"
Impulse Tracker requires a 386+ PC and > 500k of memory. Impulse
Tracker uses EMS memory. To setup EMS memory, use the following lines
in your CONFIG.SYS file:
DEVICE=<path>\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=<path>\EMM386.EXE RAM H=255
Do *NOT* have "NOEMS" or "FRAME=NONE" on the same line as EMM386.EXE
Please do NOT use QEMM with IT - beta testers of IT have found that
QEMM causes IT to be very unstable.
Also shove these lines in, if they're not already there:
DOS=HIGH,UMB <--- just to get yourself a little more memory
STACKS=0,0 <--- Some computers require this to prevent crashing
I recommend that you also devicehigh and Load-high (LH) as many
possible drivers, so that you have more conventional memory to play
around with.
