I use etcher because I myself am on Linux, and it handles zipped img files in two clicks. no need to go to the terminal and work some dd magic or anything. nothing against rufus, because I use it when I run Windows, its just that Etcher handles a plethora of different file types, in the matter of a few clicks, and does an automatic verification of the write also. if the tech works, use it. Doesn't matter if its old or not, if its what you want to use and it works, then use it.
