Hello
I am new to FreeDOS and would like to ask for any helpful hint how to
create an modified ISO image from the actual FreeDOS version 1.2.
My "aim" is simple - based on the FD12LGCY.iso image to create a
bootable DOS ISO image with BIOS firmware upgrade software (DOS based).
I found several how-tos on the web, but they are all based on the old
FDOEMCD or FDOEMCD.builder.zip by using isolinux. In the end I was able
to create with mkisofs (on MacOSX from homebrew) some bootable ISO
image, but it was not helpful, as I could not access on the prompt my
included BIOS firmware upgrade software. Instead of using the standard
isolinux boot image, I referenced also the boot.img from the
FD12LGCY.iso and was able to have the DOS prompt, but again I could not
access my included BIOS firmware software, which should be included as
far as I understand in boot.img. Unfortunately the boot.img from
FD12LGCY.iso is read-only and from FD12LITE.zip has not space left.
So my question is:
- How can I build a boot.img from FD12LGCY.iso or from FD12LITE.zip that
includes my BIOS firmware software?
- And how ca I build with mkisofs from a folder including all
"requisites" from the actual FreeDOS version 1.2 (without the installer
packages) a boot able ISO image (analogous to FD12LGCY.iso) without
using isolinux?
I would appreciate any hint. best regards.
