I noticed the SBPro Environment Setup Program could not detect the DMA
out of 3 choices (0,1,3).

Perhaps Virtualbox is emulating a different DMA number than those three?

The same Environment Setup Program had no problem with assigning the I/O
of A220.

On the other hand the SBPro Test Program could not test A220.

That is an interesting problem that you mentioned about Virtualbox.

So would the answer be that Oracle (or a volunteer) would have to add
I/O port emulation to whatever BIOS Virtualbox is using?

Another thought came to me if that cannot be done for whatever reason:

OnTrack way back in the 1990s used a 'pre-boot' BIOS extension that
loaded before anything else in CONFIG.SYS to implement Dynamic Drive
Overlay in order to recognize larger HDDs than the native BIOS would
recognize. I remember using that.

This seems like a possibility for when DOS is used as a guest OS to
extend Virtualbox audio capability. Matter fact that technique might be
a fix for any DOS hardware shortcomings in Virtualbox.
