That is a good point! AHCI is a more modern communication method with harddisks, CD/DVD/BD drives and so on, which for example improves parallel access to multiple files. What you wondered about was ACPI: Those are data tables describing your hardware, so operating system drivers can adapt to it and do not need to use BIOS for access. > Tried IDE: Bingo! Was seeing my DVD after reboot. Yes, the CD/DVD driver only supports classic IDE style modes for SATA / IDE / ATAPI, not the modern AHCI modes. Maybe that should be mentioned in the install documents.
