For my VBox, the default seems to be "PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973)".
Can't remember what FD 1.1 uses ... (boots up temporarily) ...
apparently PCNTPK.COM (though I don't know the details offhand).

He says he's using 4.3.14, which is "latest", AFAICT. However, due to
obscure bugs on some hosts (e.g. Windows), some people (including
myself) have rolled back to 4.3.12. And my Dell laptop machine here is
Win7 (64-bit) and no VT-X.

So, my point is, I think I vaguely remember him saying he uses Mac OS
X, presumably the 64-bit VBox app, but I don't know if he's got VT-X
enabled or not (nor whether that helps or hurts).

P.S. Sorry, I admit to not fiddling with FDNPKG much lately, so I
don't know much about it. Though if you want someone to try to
duplicate his steps, feel free to give me explicit hints. But I'm not
sure what's going on here so far, sounds very confusing.
