The XPS 7100 has SATA drives, for which you will probably have to turn on
IDE or BIOS emulation for DOS to recognize. Otherwise uide.sys/uhdd.sys
may help get your drives recognized (
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/dos/ellis/drivers-2014-01-26.zip).
They'll need to be loaded before running fdisk.
