Hi, As mentioned, sadly, most "classic" (old) DOS software knows nothing about cards outside of a limited range like SB16 and GUS. Everything newer (e.g. AC97 or HDA) is almost always incompatible. So it's unlikely you can just "plug in" a driver to make it work.
If you can recompile some apps, you could maybe try BSPETERS' fork of Judas Player (DJGPP or OpenWatcom), but outside of that, you don't have any obvious solutions. Mpxplay is good and works well for most cases, but it's not in library form, so its drivers are specific to itself. The only other "workaround" would be to dual boot into Linux's DOSEMU or use DOSBox (or similar), which can emulate older soundcards. I know that's not ideal, but it's presumably better than nothing.
