Short answer: you can't

DOS programs where made to be compatible with specific hardware.

The success of your program was to have a broad hardware compatibility.

In the case of sound, every program was SoundBlaster compatible
because almost everybody have one, games for instance.

I have to buy a new (I mean not used) machine which has a ISA port so
I bought an old and used SB16.

Mpxplay works because the author has done an excellent job with modern
cards. Thanks Attila, you mp3 my world.
