Hi!

Let's assume the hardware is working well... At the same time suspect
the some [1]software may make trouble. The goal is to do some checks to
see that all DOS software is working like it should.

What do I mean with faulty [1]software?
- bad BIOS settings
- booted by a bogus bootmanager
- BIOS extenders
- encryption drivers loaded before DOS
- USB drivers loaded before DOS
- device driver or TSR after DOS started
- ...

What can be done in order to see everything works well?

Some things to test if everything works well I can think of:
- test RAM with memtest+
- run a real mode application
- run a XMS application
- run an EMS application
- run some application using a DOS extender
- run mem
- load mouse driver and test if mouse works
- check if nssi tests work
- test if grub.exe starts

If any of these doesn't work while it works on a reference platform
something is foul.

Can you think of further tests or software to investigate?

regards,
-mr
