Also, pure boot failure almost has to be A20-related. Nothing else is related to vanilla-configured boot. Manager, kernel, hardware, driver, application, something A20-involved. I don't trust A20 control, even as an emulation. It's a truly horrible PC hardware hack that they should have taken behind the barn and shot after 80286 machines were released.
