Also, pure boot failure almost has to be A20-related.  Nothing else is 
related to vanilla-configured boot.  Manager, kernel, hardware, driver, 
application, something A20-involved.

I don't trust A20 control, even as an emulation.  It's a truly horrible PC 
hardware hack that they should have taken behind the barn and shot after 
80286 machines were released.  It will likely always cause compatibility 
issues at one level or another, and it may be that EXEPACK without LOADFIX 
support simply isn't worth the risk.
